Hurunui Weedbusters at Amberley Domain
Sunday 18 October, 9:30am – 12:30pm
Join us for a return working bee to Amberley Domain’s native dell, where last year we removed weedy trees and shrubs. Our mission is to tackle the remaining ivy, tagasaste (tree lucerne), cotoneaster and chilean creeper, and clear the ground for local residents to fill in the gaps with more native plantings of understorey species and some larger trees.
This will be your chance to wield grunty tools such as handsaws, pruning saws, grubbers, loppers, secateurs. BYO or we can provide some. Wear sturdy footwear, dress for the weather, and bring drinking water. Long sleeves are recommended when clearing ivy.
Meet: 9.30am at the Amberley Domain, which is off Douglas Road past the school and pool. Turn left, go down the drive and opposite the Bowling Club there is a large carpark. Look for the Hurunui Biodiversity Trust flag. The dell is the area of mature native bush located on the side of the domain below the swimming pool.
