Hurunui Weedbusters return to Amberley Beach

Sunday 28 June, 9:30am – 12:30pm

We will be rescuing native plants in the council reserve near Minimoto Lagoon at the south end of Amberley Beach. The area was planted about 20 years ago but has become neglected and overgrown. A local resident has made a good start, so we will join up with North Pegasus Bay Coastcare and Amberley Beach Residents Association volunteers to expand on his efforts, tackling weeds such as broom, lupin and gorse. We will also clear an area for future planting. The Coastcare Group will bring along some flax and Ngaio to plant if time permits.

Directions: Turn off SH1 at Amberley Beach Road. At the end turn right into South Crescent. Go past the camping ground and housing area. Look for HBT flag by the parking area.

Wear sturdy footwear and dress for the weather. We’ll bring gloves, weed gel and tools, or you can BYO loppers, secateurs, grubbers. BYO spade if you want to plant. We’ll provide morning tea.
